Throwing it back to Feb 2020 & my 1st try at Acid Etching metal. Learned the technique from @aquariannature, so grateful to her for helping expand my design palette. I used these pieces for a new collection I debuted at the CREATE Art Show in Tampa on 2.22.2020 featuring all Black Women Artists sponsored by @evozevents & curated by @psmithart. It was an epic event. Who knew the world would shut down a few weeks later! #TBT #Designer

Taking it back to where it all began, Rings!!! 1st pic, from 2010, is one of the first rings I wire-wrapped freehand. I was pleased with the turnout, love the stone but the back was a hot jumbled up mess. 😂 I never corrected the mistakes, though, because it’s living proof of the beginning and a point of reference of how I’ve come as a self-taught Designer.

2nd pic, from 2011, is my first attempt at what I called a “multi stone statement neckplate” that I debuted at a reunion event with my college modeling organization, Epicurean! The connection aka the back was a mass casualty of wired wreckage BUT it worked and still strikes conversation to this day. While I’ve thought about upgrading it many times, I always resort to leaving it in its original state because it reminds me of my continuous growth and evolvement in skill & design.

Today i want to shine the light on a fellow Creator… @mstashalarae & her amazing designs @tashamadeit. She is my sister, my friend, my accountability partner & master motivator in both life & business. With well over a decade of friendship, I was initially introduced to her thru her beautiful jewelry line, Earjeans, at the time. I was a fan from day 1. Super lightweight, wearable art earrings using leather, wood, acrylic and fabric as the medium. She closed the business down to focus more on her t-shirt business, #RacismSucks which was a game-changer for her and a major conversation piece for all of us who supported and rocked her merchandise. She eventually got back on the design table and has been riding the Made By Tasha LaRae wave ever since.

Tasha is a vibrant, colorful soul with an infectious smile that pours out into all of her creations. Known for her signature weightless leather dangle earrings, she’s constantly in search of various prints, textures and mediums to use in new collections. She paints. She sings. She writes. She is a modern day renaissance woman.

I believe in giving people their flowers while they’re here to enjoy them. TASHA…these are for you 💐🌺🌻 I pray you continue to shine your light in this creative world both in design/fashion & music. Your love for sprinkling joy in the world through your gift of creativity is contagious and is felt in every piece. Your energy is necessary. Keep going Sis.
